Nintendo sold 101.63m. The Nintendo Switch has been sold 7.63 million times since March.

When the Switch was launch in March, it sold 2.74 million units in the first four weeks.

Nintendo Co. on Monday posted sales of 374.04 billion yen (3.3 billion US dollars) for the first half of the 2017 business year, compared with 136.81 billion yen a year earlier, owing to brisk sales of its Switch game console.

Nintendo's portable 3DS family of handheld systems actually saw a jump in sales this quarter despite the fact that the Switch can be used as both a home console and portable system. "We've boosted Switch production to meet strong demand as it was hard for customers to buy the console at retail stores", Nintendo President Tatsumi Kimishima stated during an earnings call.

With the Switch though, Nintendo has tapped into something much more tangible. This Switch sales number is sans Super Mario Odyssey, Black Friday and the awaited Christmas holidays.

Nintendo President Tatsumi Kimishima said at an earnings briefing, adding the firm misjudged demand. The Pokémon RPG for Nintendo Switch is also still listed as a "2018 or later" release. "We bet big on the Switch as a game changer so we began making games before the Switch's launch, but many software companies showed reluctance in releasing Switch games before they witnessed the current success", Koei Tecmo CEO Yoichi Erikawa told The Wall Street Journal.

Helping with Nintendo's solid sales of its Switch console have been top-selling titles for Nintendo's software, which include top-ranking title: "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild".

The Switch, on the other hand, has new titles released every one to two months for popular series. It is a clear indication that Nintendo expects to have sold that many in the near future though and that's a great sign for the console's life and should see a lot of new games coming out of that platform because of it.
