Legal/ illegal:
The Indian government didn’t impose any laws on online casinos. It is neither legal nor illegal for the Indian government. It depends upon the state government’s decisions. Some state governments banned those games due to their addiction to that game. They take the people’s concern and impose laws on online betting games. Some governments didn’t impose laws on these games, because they consider these games as games only for entertainment purposes. It always depends on the public gaming act.
Legalized state:
Some states in India permit online betting games. The states include
- Goa
- Sikkim
- Daman
- Kerala
These states legalized online casinos like poker and route etc. These states legalized these games under the law of the Public Gaming act. But they also charge a fine amount of Rs.200 for breaking the law. It depends upon the state. There are also some age restrictions to playing these games. People who have age 21 or above can play these games, otherwise, they are not allowed to play the betting games.
Non-legalized state:
Telangana is the first state that has banned online casinos followed by other states like
- Andhra Pradesh
- Maharashtra
- Tamil Nadu
- Arunachal Pradesh
- Karnataka etc.
These states impose laws and banned those games because of people’s health and loss of money. People get addicted to those games and invest their whole money and time in those games. It is like gambling it may get lost or get a profit based on the luck factor if they get lost all their money some people get mental illness and some people committed suicide. This creates a major collapse in the parliament because some of the people asked to ban these games but some people opposed their point. Because these opponents want those platforms for money-making and fun purposes.
